Dad’s Weekly Report

I am sorry that haven’t written in a while. Since Lyle and Emily moved in we have been playing games on Sunday afternoon. Well, we have just finished three games of Settlers.  Lyle won 2 and Emily won 1 and now they are playing RummyCube but I better stop and write a letter.

We have spent some time helping Curt and Ruth get ready to move.  Today they took off for their 2 year stay in Washington DC. We have a corner of the big room downstairs devoted to storing some of their stuff, mostly taken up with their washer and dryer.  I am including a picture that I took yesterday.  They are planning to visit Allen and Brent today and spend the night in Boise. Then they will camp in Yellowstone before traveling on east.

A week or so ago we took Lyle on a fishing trip to catch sturgeon.  Lyle and Ruth didn’t go with us before and we were able to take them.  We spent the night in Long Beach then got up early and left on the boat at 5:30AM.  We all had a great time and all caught fish.  Sandy caught the biggest one.  It was over the limit at 67 inches long and must have weighed about 75 lbs.  We all took a turn trying to reel it in.  We finally did get into the boat.  I am including a picture of Sandy with her fish and Lyle with his big one.  There was one other oversized fish that was caught about the same size.  Lyle and I both caught 2 legal size fish.  Lyles were 49 and 45 inches.  Mine were 52 and 47 inches.  Ruth caught two that were too small.  We gave one of our fish to the guys that were with us, traded in one fish for cans of smoked fish to send with Ruth and brought home the meat of two of them.

Our dog has been having trouble with her ears lately and we think that she is pretty much deaf now.  We took her to the vet and they gave us some medicine.  Her ears don’t seem to be hurting her as much but she no longer responds when we call her.  She is getting so that she sleeps a lot now.  I guess that she is feeling the affects of old age.

This next week is the 4th of July and most HP has asked that all take vacation.  I will work on Monday and Tuesday and take Wednesday and Thursday off.  It will be really slow at work this week.  I have signed up to work at the fort on Friday.  Then in the evening we will go and watch the fireworks in the fort.  They have one of the largest fireworks displays in the country there on the 4th.
